Interdisciplinarity, Synergies, and Innovations in Human and Social Sciences. October 20–21, 2025

Call for Proposals

Since Edgar Morin (1981) in La Méthode, stated that “the interdisciplinary approach becomes self-evident when we change our perspective on the world, seeing it as an entanglement of systems within systems”, scientific disciplines have increasingly been confronted with the need to interact to address complex challenges of contemporary world. Globalization, intensification of social and cultural interactions, and emergence of recent technologies are redefining research practices, blurring disciplinary boundaries and encouraging development of interdisciplinary approaches.

In this context, this International Conference seeks to establish a forum for scholarly reflection and discourse on the interactions and synergies among the disciplines of language science, literature, the arts, and other fields within the human and social sciences. The conference aims to emphasize the heuristic and innovative potential of interdisciplinary approaches, whether theoretical, methodological, or applied.

By developing tools to analyze and improve communicative and discursive practices, language sciences play a crucial role in addressing the challenges of a globalized and multicultural world. Literary studies, through their artistic and critical analysis of language, contribute to the formation of both individual and collective identities, while also enriching cultural memory. These fields mutually inform and enhance one another through their intersections with a variety of disciplines, including history, social sciences, philosophy, and natural sciences.

We hereby invite senior researchers, early-career scholars, professors, and doctoral students to submit their proposals addressing the following thematic areas, which, while not exhaustive, address the theme of the conference.

Conference Themes

Theme I: Language Sciences

  • Linguistic developments in a globalized world: Issues of language communication, shifts in usage, and preservation of endangered languages.
  • Discourse analysis in diverse contexts: Politics, media, tourism, social networks, and their sociocultural implications.
  • Intercultural communication challenges: Translation issues, cultural misunderstandings, and identity negotiations.
  • Digital languages and linguistic technologies: Analysis of the interactions between artificial intelligence, automatic natural language processing, and human discursive practices.

Theme II: Literature and Cultural Identity

  • Literature and collective memory: The role of literature in the transmission and reconfiguration of cultural and historical identities.
  • Digital transformations in literature: New ways of writing, publication, and reception in an increasingly digital world.

Theme III: Interdisciplinary and Cross-disciplinary Approaches

  • Digital Humanities and New Methodologies: Development of digital tools for corpus linguistics analysis in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Arts, Heritage, and Intercultural Communication: Exploring the links between artistic practices, heritage preservation, and intercultural dialogue.
  • Ethics and Interdisciplinarity: Critical reflections on the ethical challenges raised by cross-disciplinary research and intersectoral collaborations.
  • Artificial Intelligence and the Humanities: Epistemological, methodological, and societal implications of AI applications in research.
  • Innovative Practices in Pedagogy: Implementing interdisciplinary approaches in student training and their impact on the development of transversal skills.
  • Collaborative Research in Multicultural Contexts: Case studies of productive interactions between disciplines and cultures in concrete research projects.
  • Institutional Challenges of Interdisciplinarity: Recognition, funding, and promotion of transdisciplinary approaches in research policies.
