The Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, in cooperation with the Faculty of Education Sciences and the Shkodra Regional Hospital organized an open lecture. topic: "The Importance of Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening" 06.11.2019 . This lecture was offered in the framework of the Breast Cancer Month and it was delivered by Prof. as. dr. Zamira Shabani, Msc. Kleva Qeraj (oncologist at SRSH), Msc. Amela Troshani (obstetrician - gynecologist at SRSH).

October is the month of awareness raising for the fight against breast cancer. WHO's motto is "Early screening of the breast and cervical cancer in developing countries saves lives." Within this motto it was thought that these two pathologies should be treated at the same time.

This lecture was attended by about 110 students of the study program of General Nursing, Psychology and Social Work. Lecturers of the Department of Nursing and health personnel of DFS Shkodra were present in this activity. What should be emphasized in that during this activity there was shown interest by the students in the screening protocol for both breast and cervical cancer. The questions asked by participants of this activity evidenced their interest in health education and the need for information on breast self-examination and vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer.
Given the impact this activity had, we hope to continue the collaborating with SRS specialist doctors and organize other health education lectures.
